What's America's favorite fridge food? The GroceryDiet.com is conducting a new poll to find out just what America's must have fridge items are.
So far in a random sampling of fridge contents the Grocery Store Diet identified the following favorites that include foods, beverages, and other items:
Beverages: bottled water, beer, wine, and sodas
Fruits: apples, oranges, and pears
Vegetables: tomatoes (even though they are really a fruit) and lettuce
Condiments: tomato catsup, mayonnaise, bottled salad dressing
Other: eggs, butter, yogurt, ice-cream, frozen dinners
This roughly corresponds to several 'top grocery, fruit and vegetable' lists. Surveys show that the top three best-selling grocery store items are carbonated beverages, followed by milk and beer. Next are frozen dinners, followed by wine--all popular fridge foods. Topping the popularity charts in the fruits and vegetables category come apples, pineapple, papaya, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and finally plums, peaches, and pears, tomatoes and lettuce.
