University Village Marketplace, a mix of dining, retail and service offerings in the heart of Chicago’s historic Maxwell Street, has announced two new tenants: Kawaii Japanese Outlet and Rapid Transit Cycleshop.

University Village Marketplace (http://www.uvmarketplace.com), a mix of dining, retail and service offerings in the heart of Chicago’s historic Maxwell Street, has announced two new tenants:

Kawaii Japanese Outlet, 1338 S. Halsted St., (312) 970-0094, sells Japanese-manufactured products including housewares, cooking utensils, snacks and bento boxes – all at discounted prices. The store carries unique brands such as Rilakkuma. Hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 9 p.m. on Sunday.

Rapid Transit Cycleshop, 1305 S. Halsted St., (312) 243-4411, is the second location of the family owned and operated business (http://www.rapidtransitcycles.com). The original has served Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood since 1994. Rapid Transit sells and services standard and unique bikes, including recumbents and tricycles, along with parts and accessories. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
