Greenville, NC (PRWEB) April 20, 2010
Spring is the time for new growth, and HammockCompany.com has been bursting at the seams this season. Already a world leader in sales of hammocks, hammock accessories and other outdoor furniture, the eastern North Carolina e-commerce company has just doubled both its office space and staff, and is preparing to nearly triple its Internet speed.
Recent sales, to put it in springtime terms, have been coming up roses.
“Even in this hard economic climate,” noted J.R. Pelletier, longtime manager of HammockCompany.com, “people still need to relax!”
The boost in Internet speed, or bandwidth, will have particular benefits for site visitors. “We’ve already been able to add 360-degree views of our products, as well as increasing the number of videos about the products we carry. We now have more than 20 videos, compared to other online retailers who have maybe one or two. We try to make ours fun to watch, which is also pretty rare.”
The recent spike in growth continues HammockCompany.com’s steady expansion since opening online in 2002. “We’ve grown as the Internet has grown,” said Pelletier.
Initially, the Greenville, N.C.-based e-commerce company intended to sell only outdoor furniture, but had a revelation that ultimately re focused its direction.
“It quickly came to our attention that the biggest hammock manufacturer in the world was here in our own town,” said Pelletier, referring to the HammockSource, then doing no online business of its own.
“We saw a huge opportunity to sell what was being made right here!” Pelletier added.
The new partnership’s rapid success allowed HammockCompany.com to soon expand into other quality hammock brands as well. From initially stocking and selling only Hatteras Hammocks and The Original Pawleys Island Rope Hammock, HammockCompany.com next added products from Nags Head Hammocks, another established, top-quality coastal Carolinas brand.
Several other national hammock brands have also since been added, including Hennessy, ENO, Kelsyus and Tuuci, as well as a selection of vibrantly colored Mayan-style hammocks imported directly from Nicaragua.
“A lot of online stores may sell a similar line of products as part of their total operation,” said Pelletier, “but this is all we do. This is who we are. We’re not some online mall; we’re a specialty retailer. We know and try the products we sell.”
That means maintaining a ready stock of everything HammockCompany.com carries, another rarity in the online-retail world.
“Our business model,” Pelletier explained, “is built on having everything here to ship the same day it’s ordered, and to help our customers in a friendly way to make an informed decision about what to buy.”
