MailChimp Announces iPhone Initiatives

New programs make it easier for companies to engage with their customers.

MailChimp is proud to announce three new initiatives for Apple's iPhone platform: an iPhone app, an iPhone developers program and a signup utility for the iPad.

MailChimp's free iPhone app includes lots of the powerful features users love from the web app, like subscriber services, list management and detailed reporting. Users can add subscribers to any list, edit list members, view campaign statistics and reports on campaigns in progress, get campaign status updates via Chimp Chatter and more—all from the iPhone.

MailChimp also created a wrapper for its API that allows iPhone developers to easily drag-and-drop signup forms into their apps. Developers can use this feature to stay in touch with their users and let them know about updates and new projects. To promote the wrapper, MailChimp is providing six months of free service—no strings attached—to iPhone developers with published apps in Apple's app store.

They didn't forget the iPad. MailChimp is developing a signup tool that allows small-business owners to capture signups with an iPad at the point of sale. The app, named Chimpadeedoo, is a simple but elegant signup form that connects to MailChimp and provides a way for new subscribers to join a user's list.

"Mobile technology is finally moving beyond simple SMS texting," says MailChimp CEO Ben Chestnut. "There are so many cool ways companies can engage with their customers now, and it's exciting that MailChimp is in the middle of it, helping make those connections."
