Santa Monica, CA (PRWEB) April 19, 2010
Team Levia, consisting of Lerner Medical Devices, QuantumMethod and friends and family of both, invite the public to join them and The National Psoriasis Foundation in the Walk to Cure Psoriasis, Saturday, April 24. They will be walking in the family friendly, non- competitive 1k or 5k walk event in Santa Monica. Levia® is a new Personal Targeted Phototherapy TM option for the at-home self-treatment of small area plaque and scalp psoriasis.
“I have lived with the burden of psoriasis my entire life,” says Patty Colman, National Psoriasis Foundation volunteer, co- chair of this year's walk and psoriasis sufferer. “My 17 year old daughter also has psoriasis, and I have had it since I was her age. We want to do whatever we can to help find a cure. That is why we walk and why I work so closely with the NPF. I wouldn’t be the strong, healthy woman I am today if I had let psoriasis hold me back.”
“Supporting the Walk to Cure Psoriasis is a big step in Lerner Medical’s promise to help psoriasis sufferers towards ‘Living Clear’,” said John Lyon, Chief Executive Officer, Lerner Medical Devices, Inc. “Levia provides UVB phototherapy at home as a practical, first line treatment alternative for millions of psoriasis patients. With the walk, we’re stepping closer to raising awareness of psoriasis, the most prevalent autoimmune disease in the U.S. We encourage those who can, to join us in the Walk, and help us gain much needed recognition for this misunderstood condition.”
Registration for the Walk is free and begins at 8 a.m. on April 24; the Walk begins at 9 a.m. at Ocean View Park, 2701 Bernard Way, Santa Monica. Team Levia members will be conducting the Walk warm up. Walkers have a choice of a 1k (.62 mi) or a 5k (3.1 mi) course. At the conclusion of the walk, Grammy nominated Latin singer/ songwriter, Veronica Lopez, an electric cellist, and dancers from “So You Think You Can Dance” will be performing. An all-day raffle will take place with a special prize donated by Levia. All proceeds go towards finding a cure for psoriasis.
