The Tarascon Global Health Pocketbook begins by reviewing major themes in international health including: development, traditional medicine, water safety, respiratory infections as well as HIV and AIDS. This is followed by region-specific chapters, each including a summary of endemic diseases, historical context and available medical resources. Each regional profile discusses key demographic and health indicators, health care systems, in addition to traditional medicine practices, unique environmental exposures and unusual local pathogens.
“The Tarascon Global Health Pocketbook is a must-have resource for physicians, residents or medical students traveling to developing countries and those with an interest in international health policy,” says author Amit Chandra, MD, MSc.
