Nurses Saving One Hour Per Shift, Delivering More Direct Patient Care

iSirona®, a provider of simplified solutions for medical device integration, today announced that Wise Regional is experiencing substantial time savings thanks to a clinical automation solution from iSirona. Automating patient data collection has translated into one hour of saved time per shift for each nurse, giving them more time to deliver quality patient care.

Prior to implementing iSirona, Wise Regional spent countless hours manually charting patient data. After contracting with a third-party consulting firm to document the amount of time nurses spent recording data, Wise Regional discovered nurses were spending a staggering 25 percent of their time charting.

Now that iSirona technology has reduced documentation demands, Wise Regional nurses are spending an average of 30 additional minutes per shift delivering direct patient care. In addition, the average amount of time between the generation of data by a patient monitor and when it is authenticated in Siemens MedSeries4 Clinical Suites is six times less. This decrease in latency greatly improves the timeliness and availability of data for clinical decision-making.

Further, Wise Regional’s monitor technicians previously spent four hours of every shift printing approximately 80 reports. Those printing requirements have disappeared, leaving the monitor technicians with considerably more time to monitor the patients on telemetry units and interpret ECG strips.
