In honor of the upcoming London Marathon and the Boston Marathon WalkJogRun is offering their iPhone app for free from Monday, April 19th until midnight Monday, April 26th. They want to inspire more people to walk, jog or run by finding routes in their neighborhood with the app.
The WalkJogRun iPhone app, normally $2.99, provides mobile access to over 600,000 routes in over 200 countries by distance or estimated duration making it an ideal companion for frequent travelers.
The app also includes a training plan store featuring 23 training plans ranging from $0.99 to $9.99 to help walkers and runners of every level of experience train for a marathon, 5k, 10k or half-marathon. Seasoned runners looking to qualify for Boston can take advantage of the advanced or intermediate training plans while new walkers and runners can follow a beginner training plan to Walk, Walk-Run, Run-Walk or Run their first race.
The app delivers a customized training alert each morning to show the training goal for the day, a training tip and a link to find matching routes in your neighborhood (or whichever neighborhood you happen to be in for the day).
Marathon hopefuls without an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad can use the WalkJogRun.net website to find routes or create their own.
Established in 2002, WalkJogRun.net is a Google mash-up to find exercise routes or map-out a new one to determine distance, pace, and calories burned. Over 600,000 user-generated routes are available worldwide.
