Bit-Wizards Awarded Training Initiative Grant

Florida's Great Northwest grant will provide training funds for existing workers.

Bit-Wizards, a leading provider of custom software solutions and website design in the Southeast, is being awarded $37,220 and will invest an equal amount to ramp up the 2010 training schedule for its employees. With help from the grant funding, Bit-Wizards will offer training to 14 employees on numerous Information Technology topics.

Bit-Wizards’ employees aim to earn certifications in Business Value Planning Services (BVPS), SharePoint Deployment Planning Services (SDPS), Microsoft Certified Professional Developer (MCPD) Enterprise Developer 3.5, and Certified Kentico Developer.

“The Incumbent Worker Training Program will allow Bit-Wizards to expand our training program to include all of our software engineers and accelerate it so we can complete our 2010 initiatives by September,” said Louis Erickson, vice president and co-founder of Bit-Wizards. “This will allow us to continue to provide great value to our clients, maximize our priority to attract, retain, and train the best software engineers in the industry, and provide additional skills to our workforce.”

The grant awarded to Bit-Wizards is part of a $205,000 Incumbent Worker Training program from Florida's Great Northwest addressing specific industry workforce needs in Okaloosa County. The goal of the program is to encourage employee retention and advancement in targeted high-growth, high-tech industries. Overall, Florida’s Great Northwest is investing more than $550,000 under its Incumbent Worker Training program in 14 companies and training partnerships throughout the 16-county region with a contribution by the awardees in excess of $600,000.
