London, UK (PRWEB) April 23, 2010
BigHand has today announced that it has been selected by the Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust as their preferred supplier of digital dictation for their trust-wide rollout. Overall 6 other suppliers were considered and BigHand was selected, to roll out to 600 users.
BigHand will operate across all the Trust's clinical sites. The implementation of BigHand has allowed the Trust to start the process of removing outdated and costly analogue tapes and to help improve document workflow, enabling the Trust to invest more of their time and money into their service to patients.
Steven Thorndyke, Project Manager at Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust commented;
"The Trust decided to enter into a contested mini competition for digital dictation to help streamline patient services workflow and provide a robust and effective tool to manage the workload of our secretaries. We chose BigHand as they represented the best value for money and provided all the functionality required from a Digital Dictation System. BigHand's implementation teams were very professional and efficient, with an issue free implementation."
Emma Bonfield, Deployment Lead at Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust commented;
"From a user perspective BigHand has been widely accepted across the Trust. Secretaries now find the entire process a smooth and streamlined approach to efficient patient care. Before with tapes, dictations were not as easily accessible. Thanks to BigHand each dictation can now be individually sent by the Clinician for every patient. Urgent dictations can be prioritised and identified straight away resulting in a faster turnaround of patient information."
Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust are now the third NHS Trust within the East of England region to have selected BigHand technology with the other two being Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust and Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust.
BigHand software helps to eliminate administrative delays and allows Trusts to meet key national targets. BigHand digital dictation has enabled many Trusts to enhance the level of patient care they are able to provide to their local communities. Other NHS Trusts who have already invested in BigHand technology include, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust and The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust.
