Chicago, IL (PRWEB) April 24, 2010
It is that time of year when most catechists are coming to the end of their teaching schedules. As such, it is a perfect time for them to pause for a few minutes and take stock of the year. To aid them in this effort, Joe Paprocki, national consultant for faith formation at Loyola Press and best-selling author of The Catechist’s Toolbox: How to Thrive as a Religious Education Teacher, will offer a free catechist self-evaluation webinar on Tuesday, April 27, at 7:00 p.m. CST. Entitled “Growing as a Catechist,” the fast-paced and highly interactive webinar will encourage catechists to evaluate their efforts this year in light of seven critical “tools” drawn from The Catechist’s Toolbox.
Among the seven catechist’s tools featured in this webinar are planning & preparation, the learning environment, discipline, and prayer. Each participant will begin each segment of the webinar by doing a simple self-evaluation of his or her level of effectiveness in using that particular tool this year. Paprocki will then use their responses to determine what he focuses on for each section.
“The purpose of this webinar is to help catechists determine where they need to grow in order to more effectively pass along the faith to children, and to provide the catechists with practical tips and suggestions that will make that growth possible,” says Paprocki. In the days following the webinar, Paprocki will use his blog, Catechist's Journey, to answer any questions the participants may have. Catechists will also have the opportunity to receive a certificate of completion for their participation in the webinar.
In addition to his book The Catechist’s Toolbox, Joe Paprocki, DMin, is the author of A Well-Built Faith: A Catholic’s Guide to Knowing and Sharing What We Believe and The Bible Blueprint: A Catholic’s Guide to Understanding and Embracing God’s Word.
