Boston, MA (Vocus) April 21, 2010
In an effort to create tangible (and quite serious) perks for FourSquare Mayors, Boloco announced on Friday that it has begun development of a super special 4SQ Mayor Boloco Card. Only 20 will be produced, one for each of the 16 Boloco locations, and of course one each will be offered to “real deal” Mayors Menino, Maher, Bouley and Kiss of Boston, Cambridge, Concord (NH) and Burlington (VT), respectively. Ousted mayors (yes, this includes the real deal guys) will be obligated to hand over the card, in-person, to the newly minted mayor in an effort to transform online connecting into real-life relationships (of course, the two can share lunch on Boloco). Despite the intense competition for these coveted seats, Boloco will expect conduct befitting of a mayoral candidate.
FourSquare is a social, geo-location website where members “check-in” to let their friends know where they are and to let their social networks know what businesses they patronize. People use their mobile devices to communicate with this application, which logs and tracks activities using your phone’s GPS capabilities. The person who checks-in the most times is then dubbed “mayor” of that location.
The 4SQ Mayor Boloco card will be available beginning in early May. If you’ve seen George Clooney in “Up in the Air,” you may recall his rare and unique Concierge Key card that lands him in a hot little relationship with Vera Farmiga… no guarantees, but Boloco’s 4SQ Mayor Card may change your life in more ways than you might imagine.
