Microwize Technology Announces Partnership with ScanMyCharts

Microwize Technology Inc., a leading provider of medical billing and electronic medical records (EMR) software, announces an agreement with ScanMyCharts to provide medical record scanning services to digitize patient medical charts and records for use with EMR software. This new service helps bridge the gap between paper-based and electronic records. While EMR software allows for the electronic creation and maintenance of patient charts and medical records, it does not address the fact that existing patient charts are paper-based.

Microwize Technology Inc., a leading provider of medical billing and electronic medical records (EMR) software, announces an agreement with ScanMyCharts to provide medical record scanning services to digitize patient medical charts and records for use with EMR software.

This new service helps bridge the gap between paper-based and electronic records. While EMR software allows for the electronic creation and maintenance of patient charts and medical records, it does not address the fact that existing patient charts are paper-based.

Along with the introduction of the ScanMyCharts services, Microwize is announcing a limited-time scanning special.

With the purchase of an EMR software, Microwize offers the scanning of anywhere from 5 to 20 boxes of patient charts at no additional charge. The paper charts will be scanned and linked to the electronic record in the EMR system, making your EMR transition pain-free.

The new ScanMyCharts service provides a way for existing paper-based patient charts and medical records to become part of the electronic medical record.   •     Step One: Paper charts are placed in standard ScanMyCharts archival boxes.
  •     Step Two: Boxes are picked up by ScanMyCharts couriers and brought to the secure ScanMyCharts facility.
  •     Step Three: The paper charts are prepped for scanning, scanned into high quality digital images and indexed by chart section and patient name.
  •     Step Four: The digital files are delivered back on CD/DVD or hard-drive in compatible format for uploading to the physician EMR system. Microwize takes care of the integration with EMR software.
  •     Step Five: The archive boxes are returned, put into long-term storage or shredded.

Microwize President, Robert Gabriel, is confident that the new service will be welcomed by physicians because of the inherent benefits and productivity associated with having electronic medical records. Not only will physicians and staff have immediate electronic access to patient records, but also be able to reclaim the space typically allocated for shelving of patient charts and convert it to revenue producing space such as an additional exam room.
