Today Andy London, Global Business Unit Manager for Heraeus Photovoltaics, announced that Dr. Weiming Zhang has been promoted to the new post of Vice President, Technology for the Photovoltaic Business Unit.
Dr. Zhang has spent 11 years at Heraeus Conshohocken, most recently as the Global Technology Manager for Photovoltaic materials. In that capacity he has led product development including Heraeus’ very successful entry into the Solar Cell paste market.
London observed that Dr Zhang, “Spearheaded the international research team that developed our industry leading front silver paste, SOL9235H. A development that has given Heraeus the top brand name in the industry. His experience, intelligence, drive and motivation have been a great asset for us.”
Dr. Zhang graduated from Missouri Rolla with a PhD in Ceramic Engineering. During his time at Heraeus he has developed products that range from LTCC powders, tape and paste to terminations for various component applications. His Pb free products were innovative and captured significant market share in the passive component industry.
Dr. Zhang stated, “I welcome the opportunity to assist Heraeus in continuing our success in the exciting PV market. I believe our rapid growth to date is only the beginning of the opportunity we will realize.”
As Vice President, Technology, Dr. Zhang will continue to lead, and now expand, an international group of scientists, engineers and technicians. He will develop and implement strategies that will allow Heraeus to increase its product pipeline, customer collaboration and market penetration.
