Apptis Names Lieutenant General Michael Peterson (USAF retired) as Vice President, Strategic Initiatives

Former Air Force Chief Information Officer to provide leadership for the company's development of technology solutions for DoD clients.

Apptis, Inc., a leading provider of essential IT and communications services to key Defense and Civilian agencies, today announced that Lieutenant General Michael Peterson (USAF retired) has joined the company as Vice President, Strategic Initiatives, Department of Defense (DoD) programs. In this role, he will work with Apptis teams supporting DoD clients to develop technology solutions to meet the unique needs of defense and national security agencies.

General Peterson brings over 15 years as a senior leader in the U.S. Air Force, directing the implementation and operation of IT and space systems. As Chief of Warfighting Integration and Chief Information Officer, he oversaw four directorates and four field operating agencies, consisting of 1,600 personnel, in managing a C4ISR portfolio valued at $17 billion. He shaped doctrine, strategy, and policy for all communications and information activities while driving standards governance, innovation, and architectures for information systems and personnel.

Peterson's distinguished Air Force career also included roles as Director, Air Forces Strategic Command and Commander Joint Force Component for Space and Global Strike (JFCC S&GS) at Headquarters US Strategic Command, Offutt AFB, NE, Commander, 81st Training Wing and Base Commander at Keesler AFB, MS, Director, Communications and Information Systems Headquarters at Air Combat Command, Langley AFB, VA, and Director, Communications and Information Systems Headquarters US Air Forces in Europe, Ramstein AB, GE.

Peterson received an M.S. Teleprocessing Science and a B.S. Mathematics, from the University of Southern Mississippi
