East 54 (http://www.east54.com) and the ArtsCenter in Carrboro (http://www.artscenterlive.org) have partnered to present “The 5:40 Summer Music Series”. The free concert series kicks off May 20th on the plaza stage at East 54 and continues every other Thursday at 5:40 p.m. through September 9th.
The ArtsCenter brings its reputation for programming the best and most diverse local music talent. East 54, in turn, offers a central retail plaza featuring a performance stage. “The 5:40 Summer Music Series is an organic extension of the diverse music and arts events offered by the ArtsCenter and the kind of events we hope to have here year round,” says Tricia Weston, Marketing Director for East 54.
“Great people are staying in, moving to or returning to the area for lots of good reasons—one of them being a vibrant, legendary music scene. This partnership is especially exciting and fulfilling for me, in that I’m able to do my part to connect Triangle residents with fantastic music in a fun, outdoor space,” says Tess Mangum Ocaña,
The series of nine concerts highlights a range of styles – from Americana-rock to Latin Jazz – all performed by musicians with strong local connections:
May 20th, Joe Romeo and the Orange County Volunteers
June 3rd, Jonathan Byrd Band
June 17th, Guillo Carias with Special Guests
July 1st, Katharine Whalen’s Lucky
July 15th, Hammer No More the Fingers
July 29th, Birds and Arrows
August 12th, The Moaners
