TDCI Launches BuyDesign® Product Configurator and Guided Selling Solutions for Microsoft Dynamics® GP

TDCI, Inc. today announced availability of BuyDesign Configurator and BuyDesign Guided Selling solutions integrated with the Microsoft Dynamics GP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.

TDCI, Inc. (TDCI), the leading provider of configurator-based software solutions, a Microsoft Gold Certified partner, and a Bronze Sponsor of Convergence 2010, today announced availability of BuyDesign Configurator and BuyDesign Guided Selling solutions integrated with the Microsoft Dynamics GP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. BuyDesign Configurator is a highly intuitive product configurator that makes it easy to capture product knowledge in the form of product rules and constraints. It then guides users through product or order specification, calculates pricing, and optionally generates a wide range of configuration-specific outputs such as manufacturing bills of material and routings, drawings, CAD models, documents and more. The BuyDesign Guided Selling solution suite includes modular web-based applications built on BuyDesign Configurator to support quoting, proposal generation and ordering for both direct and indirect sales channels, self-service buying for B2B and B2C consumers, and other specialized sales functions.

BuyDesign for Microsoft Dynamics GP is available as an optional application for Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0 SP2 and above, and with both the Advanced Management and Business Essentials editions.

One of the companies that is already using BuyDesign with Microsoft Dynamics GP is Porvene Doors, a California-based manufacturer of industrial and commercial doors. “We’ve significantly changed the way we operate by incorporating BuyDesign Configurator into our new business system,” says Stephen Bryan, Porvene Doors Controller. “With our old system, we maintained a full bill of material (BOM) for every size and variation of the doors we make. That added up to over 50,000 different part numbers and associated BOMs. The effort and cost to maintain all those parts and BOMs was onerous. Now we use the configurator to generate that information on the fly as products are ordered – eliminating the vast majority of that data maintenance. We could not have made this important change with Great Plains alone – it’s the product configurator that makes it possible.”

Bryan adds: “Another benefit of BuyDesign Configurator is that it’s now much easier to train new Customer Services Reps. We’re also looking forward to implementing BuyDesign Channel Sales to move product specification out to our dealers so they can enter their own orders on our web site. That’s another thing we would never be able to do without the TDCI product configurator.”

Troy Bakken, Vice President at Integrated Systems Solutions (ISS), a Gold Certified Microsoft Dynamics partner that worked with TDCI to develop the standard integration, adds: “The addition of the BuyDesign product configurator extends the range of companies for which Microsoft Dynamics GP is a good fit. We’re excited about what we can now deliver as a solution for make-to-order companies.”

BuyDesign is now available for Microsoft Dynamics AX, Microsoft Dynamics NAV, and Microsoft Dynamics GP. Integration with Microsoft Dynamics CRM is planned for release in the second half of 2010.
