Walling data offers great prices to schools and I realized after getting a personalized quote that we would save around 40% ... by switching to a different brand, and a better product no less.

Aaron Spell has his hands full. He is network administrator for the entire West Orange-Cove Consolidated Independent School District, located in Orange, Texas. The enormous district spans five campuses, has 500 faculty members and 2,700 students in grades Pre-K through 12. Not only does Spell manage the day-to-day upkeep for an IT infrastructure of close to 2,500 workstations and 25 servers, he is also in charge of the IT budget.

"We needed to find ways to cut spending so we could free up funding to pursue other technology projects," Spell recalled. "We were using another popular brand that was more expensive, and not even that great, so I decided that one of the first things we could do was to find an alternative security software."

When shopping anti-virus software, Spell had two major prerequisites: price and network deployment capability.

"Most of the products I evaluated offered network deployment capabilities but they were way too expensive. That is, until I came across AVG Anti-Virus."

The Right Partner and the Right Price

Spell identified Walling Data as the top ranked distributor of the AVG Anti-Virus family of products and reached out to the sales team for a custom quote. He quickly learned that the school system qualified for a major discount.

"Walling data offers great prices to schools and I realized after getting a personalized quote that we would save around $7000," said Spell. "That is a 40% savings to our annual IT budget made simply by switching to a different brand, and a better product no less."

Spell purchased 1,700 licenses and began to migrate the majority of West-Orange Cove's network over to AVG 8.5. The installation went smoothly and Spell is pleased with the performance of those systems running AVG Anti-Virus.

"AVG is a whole lot easier to deploy and manage than the other brands we used," said Spell. ""It has a simpler, much more streamlined interface, and I like being able to use software without having to open up a manual."
