Fredericksburg, VA (Vocus) April 22, 2010
Virginia-based environmental consulting firm Marstel-Day LLC today – on the 40th anniversary of Earth Day – launched its 2010 “Vital Voices of the Environment” series by posting an interview with US Representative Barbara Lee (D-9th CA District) on its Vital Voices of the Environment website (http://www.marstel-day.com/vitalvoices). The interview may also be viewed on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKQdjzOcqm0. In this compelling and wide-ranging interview, the Congresswoman discusses her own connectedness with environmental injustices, and the importance of accessing harder-to-reach groups such as communities of color and women, especially on issues of climate change and climate adaptation. She stresses the urgent importance of every individual taking personal steps to reduce their carbon footprint and practice environmentalism at home and in the workplace. She praises youth for their significant engagement on environmental issues and holds out the hope that they may save the planet from the greed that threatens it. She calls for stronger legislative action to address climate change and shares some of her own initiatives to help build a green economy and work force. We are honored to host the Congresswoman in this important interview on Earth Day for the launch of our 2010 Vital Voices series.
