Newlyweds Denise and Mark have been selected in the final 10 couples in with a chance of spending six months as Honeymoon Testers as part of the “The Ultimate Job in Ireland – and Probably the World” competition, organised by the Irish travel agency, in partnership with the Irish Times.

Couples from all around the world were invited to apply for the position by submitting an 80 second video, selling themselves for the job and Ireland as a wedding destination.

More than 30,000 couples applied which the judges whittled down to 50, which were then subject to a public vote and submission of an application form.

Denise and Mark found out they were in the Top 10 after a tense wait for a phone call from the Ultimate Job office in Co Wexford, Ireland on Thursday night.

Denise is the only Australian left in the competition, while Mark is one of only two Britons. They were married last year, in Berkshire and on the beach on the Central Coast of Australia, and are excited for the chance to experience a second honeymoon together.

Denise says:

“The time leading up to the phone call was the most nervous I’ve ever been, definitely more than when we got married. This would be an unbelievable experience to share together, and we’d not take a single moment of the trip for granted.”

The next stage of the competition involves interviews, tests and challenges over the weekend of the 7th and 8th May with the winning couple being announced at a gala dinner in Ireland by the 9th May.

The lucky couple will be tasked with testing luxury resorts and wedding venues in Kenya, Zanzibar, the Seychelles and many more.
