Lorain Matthews, AIA, LEED AP of Partners Harvard Medical International (PHMI) has been selected to speak at the second annual Hospital Build Middle East Exhibition and Congress in Dubai.
Ms. Matthews is an architect and planner with extensive experience in the planning and design of facilities for health care delivery, education, and research. In her role as a Director at PHMI, she has brought her expertise in master planning, programming, and design development to projects throughout the Middle East, as well as in India and Pakistan.
Ms. Matthews will appear during the Hospital Design and Upgrade section of the Hospital Build Exhibition and Congress. Her session, entitled “Modern Health Care in an Islamic Context,” will focus on the challenges and opportunities related to the planning and design of care settings and facilities to serve a predominantly Islamic patient population.
“A great hospital does more than provide the latest and greatest medical care—it does so while accommodating the specific cultural factors of its community,” said Ms. Matthews.
PHMI is an academic professional services organization with a distinguished track record of working with health care institutions in the Middle East. As part of its mission PHMI advises its partners on the planning and development of critical infrastructure and systems, including physical facilities. PHMI works intensively with clients to help them integrate the hospital's clinical and educational missions with the physical infrastructure and operational systems.
The Hospital Build Middle East Exhibition and Congress will be held June 1-3 at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre.
