InfiniBand® Trade Association (IBTA) Announces Release of New Publication: Introduction to InfiniBand™ for End Users

The IBTA today announced the release of a new publication, Introduction to InfiniBand™ for End Users: Industry-Standard Value and Performance for High Performance Computing and the Enterprise. Authored by one of the original leading architects of InfiniBand, with contributions from several members of the IBTA's technical working group, the minibook describes the basic concepts behind InfiniBand and the value that InfiniBand delivers to the high performance computing (HPC) and enterprise data center communities.

The InfiniBand® Trade Association (IBTA), a global organization dedicated to maintaining and enhancing the InfiniBand™ specification, today announced the release of a new publication, Introduction to InfiniBand™ for End Users: Industry-Standard Value and Performance for High Performance Computing and the Enterprise. Authored by one of the original leading architects of InfiniBand, with contributions from several members of the IBTA's technical working group, the minibook describes the basic concepts behind InfiniBand and the value that InfiniBand delivers to the high performance computing (HPC) and enterprise data center communities.

Topics covered in the minibook include Basic Concepts, InfiniBand for HPC, InfiniBand for the Enterprise, Designing with InfiniBand, InfiniBand Architecture and Features, Achieving an Interoperable Solution, and InfiniBand Performance Capabilities and Examples.

“InfiniBand is often thought of as an HPC/low latency technology, but it is much more than that,” said Paul Grun, chief scientist at System Fabric Works, Inc. and primary author of the book. “The book illustrates how InfiniBand is not only the most effective solution to bandwidth and latency issues, but also how its efficient use of servers and networks solves key issues in the enterprise data center by reducing capital outlay and operating expenses. And, that it’s surprisingly easy to adopt.”

System Fabrics Works Joins IBTA Steering Committee; Two New IBTA Members Announced
The IBTA also announced today that System Fabric Works has joined the steering committee of the organization. System Fabric Works has been an IBTA member for three years; the company specializes in delivering engineering, integration and strategic consulting services to organizations that seek to implement HPC and storage systems and low latency fabrics.
