School Specialty is proud to support educational innovation in Tennessee through this new partnership with TOSS

School Specialty announced today it is now a Platinum Partner of the Tennessee Organization of School Superintendents (TOSS). By partnering with the leading advocacy organization for public education in Tennessee, the company will collaborate with school leadership throughout the state to support initiatives that improve learning for all students.

Last month, Tennessee was one of only two finalists selected to receive the first highly competitive U.S. Department of Education Race to the Top grants. In his remarks, Secretary of Education Arne Duncan praised the recipients for achieving statewide approval for their comprehensive school reform plans and "demonstrating the courage, capacity and commitment to turning ideas into practices that can improve outcomes for students."

"One of the reasons that Tennessee was selected as one of only two states to receive an initial Race to the Top grant was our high level of engagement in school improvement from key stakeholders, including elected officials, teachers union leaders and business leaders," said Keith D. Brewer, executive director, TOSS. "Through our new partnership with School Specialty, TOSS continues to strengthen the network of resources available to our state's advocates for public education and leverage those tools to truly improve teaching and learning."

School Specialty gives K-12 educators powerful instructional tools that deliver high-quality materials in the most effective modality for each struggling student. The company's reading and math intervention systems combine the power of effective teaching with computer-based learning and data-driven decision-making. From screening to intervention, progress monitoring, reporting and professional development, School Specialty offers an integrated approach to Response to Intervention (RTI) that simplifies every stage of the process.

"School Specialty is proud to support educational innovation in Tennessee through this new partnership with TOSS," said Steven Korte, Group President, School Specialty Educational Publishing. "We look forward to working with Dr. Brewer and education advocates around the state as they implement Tennessee's ambitious school improvement agenda."
