State Room announces a series of eco initiatives and events to strengthen its sustainability footprint and build eco awareness within the special event, meeting and luxury wedding industries: Owners Jim and Alina Apteker will honor Dr. Jane Goodall in a green-themed fundraiser as she launches her 50th Anniversary Legacy Tour in Boston on May 2; State Room will graduate from the Sustainable Business Leader Program on May 6.

The State Room, Boston's premier event venue atop Sixty State Street, is ascending to a "state of green" with a series of eco-conscious initiatives and events intended to strengthen its sustainability footprint and build eco awareness in the special events, meetings and luxury weddings industries.

On May 2, Jim and Alina Apteker will honor Dr. Jane Goodall with an intimate fundraising dinner celebrating her illustrious career. In the 50 years since Dr. Jane Goodall first set foot on the shores of Lake Tanganyika at age 26, in what is now Tanzania’s Gombe National Park, the chimpanzee behavioral research she pioneered there has produced a wealth of scientific discovery, and her vision has expanded into a global mission to empower people to make a difference for all living things. Dr. Goodall and the Gombe research have inspired a generation of scientists around the world, to work not just in chimpanzee behavior but more broadly in conservation.

"We are humbled to honor Dr. Jane Goodall and celebrate her 50-year legacy with friends of the State Room," said Jim Apteker, Owner of Longwood Events. "Simply put, the world is a far better place because of Jane Goodall."

On May 6, State Room Executives will graduate from The Sustainable Business Leader Program. The six-step program takes a comprehensive and holistic approach to sustainability practices in the areas of energy efficiency, water conservation, waste management, pollution prevention, transportation and sustainability management. "Completing The Sustainable Business Leader Program is an invaluable step in taking State Room to an even higher level of eco-consciousness, said Alina Apteker, Owner of Longwood Events. "We are excited to innovate not only within our operations, but creatively within our event designs."
