An open house and art show at Pacific Child & Family Associates' new Santa Paula headquarters will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2010 from 2pm to 8pm at 216 N. 8th Street. All members of the community are invited and there is no charge for admission.

Pacific Child & Family Associates provides applied behavior analysis services to children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities. The open house will not only be an opportunity to introduce the company and their services to the area--it is also an opportunity to display the renovation of the Santa Paula headquarters in the "People's Lumber Company" building. The 1924 building, designed by local architect, Roy C. Wilson, has a long history, which includes being the Santa Paula headquarters of the lumber company, a real estate office, a construction company office, a print shop, and even a school for underprivileged children, before Pacific Child & Family Associates.

"Santa Paula is a city full of beautiful older buildings. We're happy to share a part of that history as occupants of a building as notable as the 'People's Lumber Company,'" said Ira Heilveil, chief executive officer. "That's why, when we laid out the offices, we thought it was important to restore as much of the original interior as possible. This included removing all the paneling and false ceiling to display the original plaster walls, the beautiful ceiling and crown moulding, the original flooring and other features."

The open house will include a photography display, "Images of Armenia," taken by Dr. Heilveil. Dr. Heilveil operates a charitable school for children with autism in Armenia and he visits there three to five times a year. A longtime amateur photographer, the photographs are of images he treasures from his trips to that country.

Pacific Child and Family Associates had been headquartered in Glendale, CA since 1988, and has occupied the Santa Paula office for about a year.
