Legrand® Selects BlueVolt® for Sales Training Portal

BlueVolt launches another online university on their Learning + Marketing Platform, this time for Legrand. Called "ElecTech" this training portal delivers powerful product training for their Cablofill®, Wiremold®, and Pass & Seymour® brands and already has over 700 enrollments.

Leading electrical network and infrastructure manufacturer Legrand® selected BlueVolt® to provide a new on-demand training portal for their Electrical Wiring Systems Division which includes the Cablofill®, Wiremold®, and Pass & Seymour® brands. BlueVolt’s Learning + Marketing Platform provides up-to-date marketing information and training on thousands of products to Legrand’s North American employees as well as its distributors, contractors and customers.

The BlueVolt Learning Management System (LMS) is a web-hosted solution that doesn’t require new software or hardware. It is accessible from any internet-connected computer so courses are available from the office, at home or even on the jobsite. Implementation for Legrand was fast. It took less than a month to launch their training site, “ElecTech powered by BlueVolt”.

“Sales training is absolutely critical to the success of our brands. We wanted to make our training more accessible” said Bill Desrosiers, Sales Training Manager for the Electrical Wiring Systems Division of Legrand, “The better our sales people and distributors know our products, the more they can sell. Distributors have discretion to choose our brands over our competitors. By training them on our products’ features and benefits, we gain an edge.”

The Legrand team has already embraced ElecTech. In just two months they have enrolled in over 700 courses. Desrosiers is very encouraged, “This is the way for us to move our products to the front of the line.”

“Legrand needed to educate their entire sales channel on its products, and BlueVolt was the right fit,” said Sharon Dunigan, BlueVolt National Account Manager “They found much of their target audience was already using BlueVolt.”

BlueVolt hosts online universities for manufacturers, distributors, and associations. Its university customers can selectively make their online courses available to other BlueVolt customers’ universities. Many of Legrand’s distributors were already members of associations such as Affiliated Distributors and IMARK, which have universities on the BlueVolt Learning + Marketing Platform. Legrand was able to quickly open its courses to thousands of other BlueVolt users in the electrical industry.

“BlueVolt is the standard for the electrical industry. The channel partners that we have, for the most part, use BlueVolt to power their own universities,” noted Desrosiers in a recent presentation to Legrand salespeople.

Legrand’s ElecTech University offers $BlueBucks, BlueVolt’s unique incentive program. Users who successfully complete courses, demonstrating they know the features and benefits of the product, earn $BlueBucks. They may redeem their $BlueBucks for gift certificates to hundreds of retailers, restaurants, and service providers. “We have found that it gives our customers the edge in gaining participation. In fact we have seen up to a 10x increase in course completion on courses with $BlueBucks” said Dunigan.

Desrosiers is also finding that the quality of the online content is attracting attention to their new courses. “Our old system used courses built in Microsoft Word,” he said. “Now we are providing interactive courses with video and links to additional resources. The sales people really like the new, engaging courses.”

To introduce their sales channel to the university, Legrand used a BlueVolt webcast. “These live, hosted webcasts are great for our customers that need to do live training for people all across the country,” said Sarah Bagby, BlueVolt Project Coordinator. “Instead of answering the same questions over and over again, Bill Desrosiers was able to demonstrate the new university to all of his salespeople at one time.” The webcast introduced the value of the new university and then demonstrated how to login and use the new courses.
