The new Southco® Flush-Style AdvancedMC™ Module Handle delivers enhanced efficiency by minimizing protrusion on the module faceplate and provides a convenient module removal solution for telecom service providers, telecom equipment manufacturers, and other contract OEMs. The handle adds styling and ergonomic performance to the hot-swap protection mandated by the PICMG AMC.0 R2.0 standards and the MicroTCA™ standard (MTCA.0) for modular systems. Additionally, the insertion/extraction mechanism locks modules into place for stability and reliability.
The handle provides three distinct positions to allow users to know the exact status of the handle and microswitch – switch activated/module latched, switch released/module latched, or switch released/module unlatched. A built-in light pipe provides visual indication of microswitch status. When fully engaged, the handle sits nearly flush with the module faceplate, shielded by a slightly raised area around it to protect against accidental operation or snagging of cables. During operation, a slight press on the end of the handle releases it to provide a better grasp so that a slight pull on the exposed handle can release the module board.
These handles are available to fit two of the three standard AMC module sizes – the mid-size and full-size modules. For quick, easy installation, the handle bracket snaps into place on the faceplate and is held in place by a single screw. The standard finish is a black epoxy coating. Die-cast construction provides for long lasting robust performance, and all metal parts are RoHS compliant.
