I decided to volunteer my time and dentistry in order to give back to the community that has given so much to me – to help those in need who otherwise would not receive the help they deserve.
Redondo Beach, CA (Vocus) May 1, 2010
This week marks the beginning of Remote Area Medical-L.A., a free clinic designed to bring medical, dental, and vision care to individuals and families in the area who are in need. Billed as the biggest event of its kind, medical professionals in an array of fields will be heading to the L.A. Sports Arena from April 27th through May 3rd, 2010 to treat patients and educate them on preventive care and keeping healthy. This is the 601st free clinic set up by this non-profit medical charity, and it’s second in L.A. Dr. Michael Fulbright, who runs a practice offering restorative and cosmetic dentistry in Redondo Beach and the Torrance/Los Angeles region, will be one of many medical professionals donating their time, skills, and experience to the community. “I decided to volunteer my time and dentistry in order to give back to the community that has given so much to me – to help those in need who otherwise would not receive the help they deserve.”
Dr. Fulbright, a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and the American Dental Association among others, maintains a practice offering a full range of dental procedures, from preventive and general dentistry such as teeth cleanings and fillings, to restorative and cosmetic procedures such as dental implants in Redondo Beach. He says helping out an organization such as Remote Area Medical (RAM) and being able to assist those who may not be able to afford necessary dental care are genuinely rewarding aspects of the event. “The most rewarding thing about giving back is the smile or hug you receive from someone after you help them overcome their pain and help them increase their self-esteem about their smile!”
Dr. Fulbright, who offers porcelain dental veneers in Redondo Beach and an array of other dentistry procedures, will also be speaking on preventive care and dental education at the RAM free clinic.
Remote Area Medical has traveled the world giving free medical, dental, and vision care to those in need. Headquartered in Knoxville, Tennessee, RAM has been set up in more than 570 locations, from small village enclaves to some of the biggest cities in the world. Medical personnel donate their time and experience, and supplies are donated or bought with contributions to the organization. This non-profit medical charity delivers care to thousands of people at no cost to the individual, the taxpayer, or the government. RAM has given away nearly 40 million dollars in free health care.
Services at RAM include mammograms, diabetes screening, pap smears, blood pressure readings, and a variety of medical, dental, and vision care treatments.
The RAM free clinic will be held at the L.A. Sports Arena from April 27 – May 3, 2010 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
