Sean Hackett Appointed as Research Director for The 451 Group's CloudScape Service

The 451 Group, a technology research and advisory firm focused on analyzing the business of enterprise IT innovation, today announced the appointment of Sean Hackett as Research Director of The 451 Group's CloudScape Research Program. Mr. Hackett has been an IT industry analyst and consultant for over ten years. His expertise spans multiple IT services domains, and throughout his career he has closely tracked the evolution of the IT services market - from managed network services on through application hosting, traditional IT outsourcing, BPO and cloud computing.

Mr. Hackett joins The 451 Group from CA Inc, where he worked in the company's corporate strategy and planning group as a senior principal. In this role, Mr. Hackett supported the company's executive leadership team and board of directors. While at CA, Mr. Hackett's responsibilities included: identifying and investigating new market opportunities, conducting competitive intelligence and contributing relevant research in support of the company's M&A due diligence process.

Prior to CA Inc, Mr. Hackett directed IDC's IT outsourcing and cloud computing research program. While at IDC, Mr. Hackett was early in identifying the disruptive power of the cloud computing service-delivery model, and published several groundbreaking studies related to its emergence. During his tenure at IDC, Mr. Hackett also closely followed the markets for traditional IT outsourcing, managed network services and application hosting. Before IDC, he was a founding member of the strategy consulting practice at Breakaway Solutions, a startup application service provider. Mr. Hackett was also a management consultant at Deloitte Consulting in the company's outsourcing advisory practice and was one of seven selected from thousands of applicants to participate in Fidelity Investments' exclusive management development program. He holds an MBA with a concentration in corporate finance, and has also completed additional coursework in corporate strategy at MIT.

Mr. Hackett is based in The 451 Group office in Boston.
