Norfolk, VA (PRWEB) May 5, 2010
Employees of Affinity4 (Norfolk, VA), one of the nation’s leading affinity-based marketers specializing in helping charities, ministries and other non-profit organizations raise funds, will be teaming up to raise funds for Hoops of Hope, an organization started by a 9 year American boy who wanted to help African children orphaned by HIV-AIDS. The fundraising concept behind Hoops of Hope is shooting hoops for dollars. Since the organization began, over $1.8 million has been raised and used to provide care for hundreds of orphans in Zambia. Past projects include a high school for 1000 students, four dormitories, two hospitals in Zambia as well as a water project in Kenya and two hope centers in Swaziland. This year, funds raised through Hoops of Hope are helping to build teacher houses for 15 staff members at the school Hoops of Hope built in 2007.
Affinity4 will be kicking off its Hoop of Hopes fundraising campaign on May 7th in honor of World AIDS Orphans Day. On June 3rd, a basketball “shoot-a-thon” will be held and staff members will be divided into teams to add to the excitement and competitive spirit. Each team will have a fundraising and free throw goal (e.g., 1,000 free throws in 2 hours). Teams will compete in such categories as: most money raised best team name, most free throws, and best team uniform. In addition to the money raised directly by Affinity4 staff members, the company will seek donations from its customers and charity and ministry partners in support of Hoops of Hope. All funds raised through Hoops of Hope go directly to World Vision’s Hope Initiative, which is one of Affinity4’s non-profit organization partners.
Through its employee quarterly volunteer projects like this, Affinity4 staff members have raised thousands of dollars for various nonprofit organizations and performed community service projects ranging from building guard to prevent erosion at First Landing State Park (Virginia Beach, Virginia) to renovating a home for a previously homeless family on behalf of ForKids (Norfolk, VA).
