"Just as social networking has become a highly successful business model on the internet today, the same type of business model is needed in the manufacturing industry"

A new bidding platform is now available for US & Canadian manufacturers. Buyers and bidders can now find each other for free on ContractAuction.com.
In the past, in order for a machine shop or manufacturer to find work, they have had to pay astronomical marketing, advertising or membership fees to gain access to manufacturer RFQs. Previously, all manufacturing based auction sites imposed a high barrier to entry for prospective bidders. This resulted in poor bidder participation and stunted the development of communication for both buyers and bidders.
In March of 2010, Contract Auction stepped onto the scene, providing an open platform for machine shops and manufacturers to post and bid jobs for free. Both buyers and bidders are able to rate each others performance through a feedback system.
When searching for a manufacturer, buyers typically had to search through mountains of listings in directories and then, email and call potential suppliers in order to find someone who could provide a quote or a prototype of their custom product. The process of finding a manufacturer has historically been as difficult for the buyer as it has been for the manufacturer.
Contract Auction owner, Carl Haehl said, "Just as social networking has become a highly successful business model on the internet today, the same type of business model is needed in the manufacturing industry." Manufacturers, machine shops and buyers are all scrambling to find each other.
Contract Auction's database of registered manufacturers, ready to bid on jobs, is already filling up. Jobs are being posted in many different categories from apparel manufacturing to CNC machining and electronics.
Finally, many manufacturers are relieved that there is a centralized, free and open platform for buyers and manufacturers to find each other and develop successful business relationships.
