In early December 2009, Terra Industries, a large importer of nitrogen products along the Mississippi River, was in urgent need of a replacement breasting dolphin. A ship was scheduled to arrive at their dock within 6 weeks, which left a very short window for the dolphin to be replaced.

By having the fender system pre-installed onto the jacket, installation went very quickly.

The vendors involved in this project performed at a very high level. As we expected, both Boh Brothers and Maritime International came through in a pinch said Chris O'Brien, Lanier's project manager.

In early December 2009, Terra Industries, a large importer of nitrogen products along the Mississippi River, was in urgent need of a replacement breasting dolphin. A ship was scheduled to arrive at their dock within 6 weeks, which left a very short window for the dolphin to be replaced.

Terra Industries needed a team who could modernize and replace the dolphin quickly within the required timeframe. They contacted Lanier & Associates’ Consulting Engineers Inc. to design the new breasting dolphin. Boh Brothers Construction Co. would handle the pile fabrication and dolphin installation. Maritime International was selected to manufacture the entire marine fender system, steel jacket, and deck. The 40’ steel jacket was outfitted with a MCS 1450 Cell Fender, a 16' wide x 37' tall steel panel faced with UHMW, and a steel deck with a 100 ton single bitt bollard.

Maritime International manufactured and delivered the entire jacket, deck and fender system in only 41 days. Rick Berry of Boh Brothers said "By having the marine fender system pre-installed onto the jacket, installation went very quickly.”
