Lincoln, NE (Vocus) May 5, 2010
Cornhusker Bank (CHB), with its affiliated technology company Charter Innovations, and Cost Effective Technologies (CET), a subsidiary of Nelnet, today announced the formation of a strategic alliance to launch a unified information technology (IT) platform for the community banking and small to medium-sized business sectors. The alliance will offer a comprehensive package of IT services—including CET's innovative cloud computing platform—that will enable local organizations to be more productive, profitable, and successful.
“Together, we believe we have set the new standard in IT services for community banks and the small businesses they serve,” said Barry Lockard, President of Cornhusker Bank. “This innovative and powerful computing platform will bring the benefits of cloud computing, software as a service, virtualization, and managed services to what is arguably the most important sector of our nation's economy—small and medium-sized organizations that are on the front lines of helping our communities grow and prosper.”
The alliance will specialize in building private, secure, and affordable web-based computing platforms that are stocked with a comprehensive suite of business applications that are accessed over the Internet. This flexible and efficient solution not only houses a wide array of computing tools, but also reduces the need for expensive hardware, software, installation, and support.
“For years, smaller banking organizations have struggled with how to securely and intelligently utilize many of the powerful tools that are available via our cloud computing platform. Finally, a secure solution has been developed to help small, regional banks intelligently take advantage of the cloud,” said Ken Ward, Chief Information Officer for Cornhusker Bank. “Our joint solution has been built for bankers, by bankers, and it places a powerful array of tools into their technology tool-kits.”
The alliance will immediately focus on introducing the platform in the greater Lincoln and Omaha areas, with regional and national outreach efforts to begin shortly thereafter.
“At CET, we believe that the combination of better technology at a lower cost is not only possible, but is a reality when utilizing our platform. CHB's unique combination of thought leadership, commitment to its community, and conservative, well-planned adoption of technology makes it an ideal partner,” said Hannah Smitterberg, co-founder of CET. “We all come from banking backgrounds, and we understand how pivotal the role of community banks can be in providing the fuel that drives the engines of growth for our local small and mid-sized businesses.”
