Survalent Technology, a leading provider of smart grid solutions to utilities, announced today that it has commissioned a new Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for North Arkansas Electric Cooperative.
North Arkansas Electric Cooperative serves approximately 35,000 member accounts in Northern Arkansas. With over 4,500 miles of power line and 25 different substation sites, North Arkansas Electric Cooperative provides electric service in parts of seven different counties. North Arkansas Electric Cooperative is headquartered in Salem, Arkansas and operates two other full service offices located in Ash Flat and Mountain Home.
The new system features Survalent’s highly available, dual-redundant, open-architecture system based on Windows Server 2008. It includes Survalent’s MultiSpeak 3.0 real-time interfaces for Engineering Analysis, Outage Analysis, GIS, Load Management, and batch GIS import.
The system was also commissioned with Survalent’s WebSurv solution, a powerful application to serve real?time SCADA information to users via web browser, and without the need for custom installation or maintenance.
“Reliable power delivery requires decisions based on real-time information” states Steve Mueller, President, Survalent Technology. “Our MultiSpeak interface allows interoperability of real-time information to a broad range of other system platforms, allowing our customers to make better decisions. We welcome North Arkansas Electric Cooperative to our growing list of satisfied Survalent customers.”
The system was purchased through Survalent’s industry partner National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative (NRTC). “Our partnership with NRTC allows our cooperative customers to purchase within the cooperative family,” states Mike Bowdle, VP Sales and Marketing, Survalent Technology. “NRTC members receive national discounted pricing and the ability to earn capital credits through NRTC.”
