Players from The Trenches dominated the 2010 Draft showing the importance of offensive and defensive lines in professional football.

The Trench Fantasy team joined with more than seven million fans across the country to watch the NFL Draft to see how teams approached this critical day. Many fans were watching to see where quarterbacks and running backs would be drafted but, along with NFL executives and hard-core football fans, our eyes were on offensive and defensive linemen and other key Trench positions.

The record-setting TV audience, including some of the 22 million fans that play fantasy football, saw five of the first ten picks in Round One used to select players from The Trenches. Over the three days of the draft, 35 offensive linemen and 47 defensive linemen were drafted making Trench positions an astounding one of every three out of the 224 total picks.

“This draft reflects exactly why we started in the first place. These players are so important to the game and yet they’re left out of traditional fantasy football completely,” said Eric Koivisto, Trench Fantasy’s CEO. “For an offensive and defensive lineman, draft day is one of the few times their skills are in the spotlight and they don’t mind hearing their name called out by the person officiating the event!”

Starting each August, fantasy owners immerse themselves in the game they love and are always looking for an edge to help them win their leagues. Trench Fantasy not only opens up ‘The Trenches’ and players left out of traditional fantasy but also allows the fantasy owner to go another step deeper to see how the players up front impact the performance of their QB’s and RB’s for their traditional fantasy leagues.

The Trench Class of the 2010 Draft included:
22 - Offensive Tackles
8 - Offensive Guards
5 - Centers
35 - Defensive Ends
23 - Defensive Tackles
