Juice Podcast Series Provides Insight For Organizations To Improve Employee Engagement And Productivity

Juice Inc. is kicking off a podcast series focused on providing insight for organizations to improve employee engagement and productivity. The first podcast, titled "Love at Work with HPHA," is available now.

Brady Wilson, co-founder of Juice, provides listeners with company best practices and is joined by Andrew Williams, Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPHA) chief executive officer, for this first podcast. HPHA is a four-hospital alliance in Southwestern Ontario.

During the podcast, Wilson and Williams focus on the efforts to increase employee engagement and improve employee morale and communication at HPHA.

"The healthcare sector has the perfect storm that demands a focus on superior conversation skills and the ability to meet each others felt needs," said Wilson. "Although other industries have similar challenges, we find that the healthcare sector has it in the most amped up way imaginable."

HPHA never failed to provide consistently superior healthcare but the toll on its employees was intensifying. As a result, Williams engaged Juice to launch an intensive employee training program for 1,100 employees across multiple sites.

"At its most basic level, Healthcare really is people looking after people," said Williams. "If you don't look after each other, you're not able to look after the patients and their families as effectively as you might be able to."

During the podcast, Wilson also touches on the concept of "Love at Work," which is the title and subject of Wilson's latest book to be published in mid-May. The concepts outlined in the book are the same concepts applied to Juice's work with HPHA.

"The concept of 'Love at Work' is leaders extending themselves to invest in someone's highest good to meet the felt needs of their employees," said Wilson. "When managers meet the felt needs of employees, employees are then energized and able to give their best at work."

The book seeks to energize organizations for positive change through the notion that engaging people's hearts trumps engaging their minds when it comes to sparking discretionary effort. Wilson's belief is that emotional engagement and what is felt, versus rational engagement, is what matters most to people, even in the workplace. Meeting the felt needs is what unlocks people's discretionary effort.
