Stage Race Provides Great Opportunities for Racers and Exciting Viewing for Spectators --

( ) Spectators wanting to get up close to some of the world's best professional and amateur bicycle racers will have numerous opportunities to do so during the Memorial Day Weekend Killington Stage Race, one of the Northeast’s most anticipated cycling events, in Killington Vermont. ( )

“The Legend,” as the bicycling stage race is known in cycling circles, returns to Killington Vermont following a long absence. Amateur and professional racers will kickoff the weekend at 8 am Saturday May 29th at the Killington ski resort Skyeship on Route 4 in Killington, VT and finish the weekend Monday afternoon with a furious climb up the Killington Access Road as the culmination of a 62-mile road race. The race is sponsored by the Killington Vermont Economic Development and Tourism Commission (EDTC), Long Trail Brewery and The Mountain Times.

Saturday’s 18-mile circuit race starts at the Skyeship and ends at Killington Resort’s Sunrise Base Area. Citizen racers will start at 8 AM, followed by the first wave of stage racers at approximately 9:15. The second wave will be off at approximately 1pm. Racers will finish starting at about 11 AM. The afternoon fields will finish at about 3 PM.

Sunday, The Long Trail Individual Time Trial will kickoff at 9 AM at the brewery on Route 4 in Bridgewater and finish at Killington Town Offices on River Road throughout the day.

Monday’s Champion System point-to-point road race begins at the Skyeship at 8:30 AM and finish about 12:30 PM at the K1 Base Lodge at the top of the Killington Access Road.

Awards will be presented at the finish line of each race, with General Category awards coming Monday at the conclusion of the final stage. Circuit maps, registration and additional Killington Stage Race information is available online at
