Cary, NC (PRWEB) May 6, 2010
Ply Gem Windows, a leading manufacturer of window and door products for residential construction, introduces its innovative Contractor Series 2000 replacement windows, available in states east of the Rockies beginning May 2010. The series fully rounds out the Ply Gem Windows replacement and remodel product lines, adding a value priced replacement product with premium features and cutting-edge technologies that anticipate future advances in window design and technology.
The Ply Gem research and development group designed these windows with a multipurpose platform for adding options today, including energy efficient glass packages, while also creating space for configuring windows to a highly insulated R-5 standard and adding energy-saving features that have yet to be commercialized, like vacuum glass.
"The Contractor Series 2000 offers the best of both worlds - taking our knowledge of the high-end replacement market and the features that work best for our Great Lakes Window customers and adjusting those key features for entry level affordability through our new construction background," said Chris Pickering, vice president, marketing, Ply Gem windows. "In designing this window, our development team worked to answer each of our customers' current demands, but also anticipated future needs in the window industry. We built in flexibility for new technologies, making it possible to incorporate ultra energy efficient features while maintaining manufacturing efficiencies that help us preserve quality at a competitive price."
Features and Benefits:
The Ply Gem Windows Contractor Series 2000 is available in double hung, casement, sliding window, awning, fixed, special shape configurations and patio door styles. It features equal, narrow sight lines, low profile cam-action locks and a hidden sill lock design for sleek, low-profile aesthetics that match the contoured exterior appearance of wood windows. For added aesthetic appeal, the series is available in two colors with the choice of two grille options. It also comes standard with a 3-1/4" frame depth that works well with traditional wood 'pocket' window applications for easy replacement.
Future add-ons for the Ply Gem Windows Contractor Series 2000, available today within the Premium and Pro Series, include interior wood grain laminates, expanded exterior color offerings, and SDL (simulated divided lites).
This window will be the first product that Ply Gem Windows will produce in multiple facilities simultaneously, including the Walbridge, Ohio and Rocky Mount, Va. manufacturing operations. By introducing this window from multiple plants, Ply Gem Windows will be able to service customers in all states east of the Rockies in seven-day lead times. It is also the first entry-level Ply Gem Windows product to be covered under a premium lifetime limited warranty.
All styles in the Ply Gem Windows Contractor Series 2000 can be configured to meet 2010 ENERGY STAR® standards. By adding features such as energy efficient glass package options, the window can also be configured to meet requirements of the replacement window tax credit under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Additionally, in response to the U.S. Department of Energy's R-5 Windows and Low-E Storm Windows Volume Purchase Program, which aims to expand the market of high efficiency window products, this series is designed as a value-priced product that can be configured in the near future to an R-5 insulated window design, with a U-factor as low as 0.18. R-5 configuration is currently available on the high-end Ply Gem Windows Premium Replacement Series.
"With nearly one million dollars invested in new glazing, spacer, and other thermal-enhancing technologies, Ply Gem Windows is well positioned to meet requirements of all window industry programs, including ENERGY STAR, the stimulus bill and the Department of Energy," said Pickering. "We have designed the Contractor Series 2000 with such initiatives in mind, creating the series with a platform that allows for the addition of multiple insulated glass units to meet and exceed different requirements."
Current tax credit qualifying product styles in this series include the optional Ply Gem Windows HP (Low-E/argon) glass package, and either the standard Warm Edge Spacer System or the new optional Warm Edge Plus spacer system for a lower U-Factor.
This latest product development is a part of the Ply Gem Enviro™ Initiative, a company commitment that lays a roadmap for the development of green products, the use of environmentally responsible practices in operations, and contribution to the improved energy efficiency and lifecycle benefits of homes.
