In today's security environment, importing goods from overseas can entail a mountain of paperwork. For the uninitiated, the red tape involved with clearing Customs is enough to send an importer scurrying into the arms of your nearest customs broker.

Thankfully, those who decide to go it alone have CustomsForms.org's customs broker resources including  descriptions and downloadable versions of every U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) form. Visitors can ask questions about any form in the comments section to get answers from a licensed customs broker.

Users can fill out the U.S. Customs Forms online, download them as PDFs, or e-sign and submit them directly to U.S. Customs by fax, FedEx or regular mail.

"We make the entire process of dealing with forms easier. Forget about fax machines, scanners, pens, pencils, typewriters, stamps, and envelopes. Just sign into customsforms.org and everything will be processed electronically," says lead developer Alex Enright.

In most cases, a person who has never imported goods before is best served by going through a licensed customs broker, who will clear a shipment through Customs for a fee ranging from $100-$200, depending on the complexity of the release.

Experienced importers, lawyers, or importers with the patience to read the relevant sections of CFR 19 may feel compelled to import their own shipments without using a licensed customs broker.  After a company has imported the same product more than once, they should have a good grasp of which forms and documents CBP requires.

CBP permits any importer to enter shipments for their own account without possessing a customs broker license.  CustomsForms.org helps importers understand which customs forms are required to clear their own shipments without using a customs broker.
