Sales are not down, jobs are not being lost, and the factory is not closing. Hard work and made-in-the-USA quality is paying off for Spokane, Washington hot tub manufacturing company Apollo Spas
In a recent deal with Costco stores all across Canada, Apollo Spas became the exclusive supplier of in-store hot tub products. As the trend toward overseas manufacturing seems to continue at the expense of American jobs and businesses, it is refreshing to see an exception.
The Costco deal could easily represent an extra $3 million in sales to Apollo, with Costco Canada forecasting even higher sales volumes. Costco operates more than 60 stores across Canada, with 54 of them carrying Apollo hot tubs in-store.
Spokane Apollo plant manager, Steve MacDonald:
“3 Million in sales may seem like a drop in the bucket as the river of manufacturing work flows out of the US but – its better than zero million. My father used to run this plant, now I do. I am very proud of the work we do and I think that pride affects the quality of our hot tubs. We have felt the pressure to make cheaper hot tubs to compete with China, and we have had to cut costs in many ways, but we have never given in to the temptation to lower our quality standards. If it comes to that, I will find something else to do.”
Apollo Spas manufactures a full range of domestic hot tubs, spas, and bathtubs. They supply 8 stores in Washington, and more than 150 hot tub retailers throughout the USA, Canada, and Europe.
