Napa Valley’s star vintners collaborate with celebrated restauranteurs and winery chefs for ultimate cookbook

Decanting Napa Valley: The Cookbook is a massive collaboration that uniquely brings together hundreds of talented and enthusiastic people from the Napa Valley including the winemakers, vintners, winery chefs, restauranteurs, and the creative professionals, who together shape and show-off this viticultural region.

It’s all about collaboration, with 180 recipes and 100 wines from Napa Valley’s most acclaimed vintners. “I wanted the reader to encompass all of Napa Valley in one book, so emphasis was placed on wine producers’ - both big and small - and tasting notes from the mouth of each winemaker. The recipes were created by the famed restauranteurs and the professional chefs who knew the precise flavor profiles of each wine,” says author Michelle Higgins. It was essential that the reader to be immersed in Napa Valley so she consulted sommeliers, winemakers and wine experts to write essays on such topics as “How a Sommelier Tastes Wine” by Dennis Kelly (head sommelier The French Laundry), to “Why Stemware is Important” by Georg Riedel (Riedel Crystal).

A professional graphic designer, Michelle Higgins captivates the reader with the artistry of each wine bottle and says, “Decanting Napa Valley : The Cookbook provides the reader an opportunity to take pleasure in Napa Valley wherever they happened to be”.    

The cookbook features trendsetting winemakers such Philippe Melka, Heidi Barrett and Celia Welch and restauranteurs include, among others: Ken Frank, Michael Mina, Cindy Pawlcyn, and the Thomas Keller Restaurant Group.

And the Napa Valley loves it. Vintner Robin Lail says, “Michelle Higgins’ exploration into the world of wine and food is like no other. It is tantalizing for the senses and invites the reader to retreat to the kitchen and begin a hands-on investigation of its contents. The wineries in the book have embraced the effort, finding pride in contributing and autographing the cookbook for visitors.
