I have used both the online and phone support; and both are excellent

Unitrends, the leader in affordable, heterogeneous, vertically integrated, disk-based all-in-one data protection appliances, today announced that St. Mary’s High School has increased backup performance and reliability by using a disk-to-disk backup appliance from Unitrends.
St. Mary's High School, founded in 1946, is a Catholic, coeducational, parish high school. Located in Annapolis, MD., the school enrolls over 500 students in grades nine through 12. Its curriculum includes English, math, science, social studies, religion, business, music, art, computer studies and physical education. It also offers courses such as theater, journalism, public speaking and foreign languages, including Spanish, French and Latin. St. Mary’s is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
St. Mary’s High School was having difficulties with a tape backup solution that did not meet the growing criteria for the school’s data storage needs. Tapes were unreliable, offered only limited storage space and made backup processes for the school very slow.
“Unitrends has major presence in education because of our strong focus on delivering superior value to IT organizations that are typically chronically understaffed,” said Mike Coney, chief executive officer, Unitrends. “Education, particularly K12 education, has embraced the all-in-one backup and disaster recovery appliance that we support because of not only its ease of use but its flexible deployment as well.”
“We had too much data to fit on one tape,” said Ken Cheney, IT director, St. Mary’s High School. “Swapping tapes was a pain and backups took too long.”
Looking to implement a new solution to replace its tape-based process, Cheney began evaluating backup options that would increase speed and file recovery reliability. In addition to product features, St. Mary’s also needed access to a skilled support team it could rely on in times of need. Ultimately, St. Mary’s selected a disk-to-disk backup appliance from Unitrends because it proved to be both reliable and fast. The school now protects its Microsoft Windows, Exchange, SQL Server and web files with a single, comprehensive solution and no longer has to deal with a tape solution that is painfully slow or low in capacity.
The Unitrends solution proved its reliability to St. Mary’s High when it saved crucial files that failed from a system crash. The server failed due to overheating; and it lost all of its records, which contained the entire company’s shared information. Cheney was relieved that with Unitrends proven solution the files were easily and quickly restored to their original state.
“I have used both the online and phone support; and both are excellent,” said Cheney. “The support team has a great deal of knowledge, and they are very professional.”
“We are always pleased to learn when our support has helped one of our customers rebound from a disaster such as a server failure,” said Maria Ellison, senior vice president, support, Unitrends. “Customer satisfaction is our number one goal and we work hard to outperform customer expectations every time. For our customers, data is critical to their success and we treat every issue with urgency and personal attention to assure rapid resolution.”
