International Tour Management Institute (ITMI), http://www.itmisf.com has been America’s premier training and certification program for professional tour directors and guides since its inception in 1976. Last week, ITMI conducted a graduation ceremony for its 259th class. The 15-day hands-on training program included 5 days on a motor coach, where students honed their presentation skills in front of an audience of actual tourists.
“The real world experience that our students receive during the classes, provides them with the knowledge and confidence to lead tour groups immediately upon graduation,” says Ted Bravos, CEO of International Tour Management Institute. “Careful pre-screening of applicants ensures that only the most qualified students enter the program. The reputation of our graduates makes them prime candidates for assignments with the major tour operators as well as event and meeting planners.”
Even during these uncertain times, travel and tour companies are always seeking well- trained individuals to serve as tour guides and directors. Despite the global economic downturn, the tourism industry remains the top revenue producing industry in the world, generating more than $740 billion annually in the U.S. alone. Tour guides and directors can work full or part time. The flexibility is ideal for teachers, college students and seniors.”
Professional tour directors earn an average of $250 or more per day, plus all expense paid trips. Tour guides and directors can determine how many days each year they wish to work and which areas of the country or the world they wish to experience.
ITMI has launched over 6,000 travel careers. As the first certified professional tour directing program in America, ITMI alumni are sought after by major tour operators such as Adventures by Disney, Australian Pacific Touring, Globus & Cosmos, Tauck World Discovery and Princess Cruise Lines, to name but a few.
Class size is limited. Not all applicants are accepted. Students are carefully pre-screened to ensure the highest potential placement rate upon graduation.
