Needham Heights, MA (PRWEB) May 13, 2010
Provider Insurance Group (http://www.Providerig.com), the award-winning life, health and business insurance provider, will announce the winner of its 2nd annual "Can You Make Insurance Funny?" video contest at the Wellesley High School Film Festival on May 13th at Wellesley High School. The local media, community, town officials and contestants are invited to join Provider Insurance Group at this annual, star-studded event honoring the entrepreneurial spirit and creativity of the student contest finalists.
Launch of a Contest:
Launched March 31, 2010, the Provider contest invited students in Wellesley High School's TV/Video production class, taught by teachers, Julie Spilka's and Rachel Appel's, to produce 30-second marketing videos. The challenge was to use creative video techniques to promote buying insurance through the agency in a humorous way. Since the contest kicked off, all twelve students in the class have submitted and entry, which are viewable now on YouTube, the world's most popular online video community. The winners will be chosen from among the five most viewed clips and announced May 13
Provider President and CEO, and Wellesley resident, William Darcey, came up with the contest idea in early 2009, when the agency wanted to find a unique way to implement a creative, yet cost-effective marketing project. The goal was to produce video commercials that humanized insurance. "We decided to take a fresh approach to marketing utilizing the tech-savvy high school students who think out of the box."
Funniest Video Contest Winnings No Laughing Matter :
Provider put up $1,000 in college scholarship money for the grand prize winner, roughly ¼ of what professional production companies charge for a 30-second video. The bigger reward is the internship, practical work experience and paycheck the grand prize winner earns creating video commercials for Provider on a part-time, project-by-project basis.
Last year's winner, Connor Cassidy, who is now finishing his senior year at Wellesley High while working part-time for Provider, has found the opportunity priceless. "It's been a great investment in my future," he says. "I feel like I'm ahead of the game."
Grooming Future Producers Moves Agency to Social Media Forefront:
Beyond the value of getting "professional-quality" marketing content and talent at a fraction of market cost, Provider is positioning itself as a leader in the social media marketing space. That's an important advantage for a firm in an industry that needs to reach a younger audience through non-traditional marketing methods.
Ruby Chan, Director of Marketing at Provider said, "75% of my job is in the area of social media. In addition to our videos, we are on Linkedin, Twitter and Facebook." Darcey adds, "There are other insurance agencies out there that are involved in social media. They will be our competitors down the line."
About the Provider Insurance Group:
Founded in 1945, Provider Insurance Group is a Trusted Choice insurance agency that has grown over the past 60 plus years into a world class, client focused organization. After a rigorous examination and fitness review of 17 quality points, Provider was awarded the Five Star designation, which is held by less than 1 percent of insurance agencies in New England. Headquartered in Massachusetts, Provider also has an office in Woonsocket, R.I.
