"We are giving people a real shot at the dream," said Joe O’Donnell, the film’s director. "This is an opportunity for anyone in America to experience the Hollywood dream without sleeping on sofas for 10 years like I did."
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) May 18, 2010
The producers of “Off Hollywood,” an independent feature-length film currently in production in Hollywood, have launched a series of contests that give anyone in America a shot at the “Hollywood dream” by allowing them to audition for a part in their movie or a spot in the crew. Contest winners will be brought to Los Angeles for an all expenses paid weekend to share the “Off Hollywood” movie experience and be in front of the camera on set. The contests include not only acting parts, but also camera stand-in roles and a theme song competition.
Entrants for this open casting call must be age 18 or older, and registration is free. To enter this film contest, entrants visit Off Hollywood Movie and submit a movie audition that could put them in the director’s cut of the feature-length comedy. Winners are selected solely by users online at the website. Entrants can share their video audition, pictures, or songs with friends via social networking sites to boost their ratings.
“We are giving people a real shot at the dream,” said Joe O’Donnell, the film’s director. “This is an opportunity for anyone in America to experience the Hollywood dream without sleeping on sofas for 10 years like I did.”
“Off Hollywood” has its first contest winner, Justin Basl, 25, from Palo Alto, Calif., who won the speaking part of a Studio Security Guard. Basl will travel to Los Angeles this month to shoot his scene. His winning audition is posted on http://www.offhollywoodmovie.com. Basl’s excitement for winning has spilled over into his channel on youtube.com.
Other contests, including speaking parts, a theme song competition and an opportunity to be a “stand-in” for one of the stars, all remain open. Each contest has its own timeline so prospective entrants must visit http://www.offhollywoodmovie.com for dates and other details for submitting their video audition.
About Off Hollywood
“Off Hollywood” is a truly independent film currently in production in Hollywood. In the story a lowly playwright from the prairie is called to Hollywood by the ghost of Orson Welles to save Hollywood from its doldrums of sequels, prequels, remakes and spin-offs. Living in his Uncle Don’s storage unit, and out of options, Davis Davis is forced to first make an “adult film” in order to fund the epic that he is certain will save Hollywood and return it to its glory and greatness!
