Our agency is honored to contribute our services to support global peace-building initiatives
Rockville, MD (Vocus) May 14, 2010
VIVA Creative, in support of the United States Institute of Peace (USIP), created a thought-provoking keynote presentation to help frame the discussion at the USIP and Independent Television Service’s third summit in the “Media As Global Diplomat” series titled, “Seizing the Moment: Media & Peacebuilding,” held May 12 at the Newseum in Washington D.C.
The keynote presentation set the stage for the day’s dialog between global journalists, officials from the U.S. Department of State, educators, and media executives to discuss the power of media to diffuse conflict and communicate messages that promote peace.
“Our agency is honored to contribute our services to support global peace-building initiatives,” said Emily Greene, CCO of VIVA Creative. “It is our hope that the media we helped to create will have a positive impact on the United States Institute of Peace’s worldwide efforts.
The day-long conference included moderated panels with distinguished guests including Patricia Harrison, President and CEO of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, Marvin Kalb, veteran broadcaster and visiting expert from the USIP, Riz Khan, senior news anchor from Al Jazeera English, and Rebecca MacKinnon, co-founder of Global Voice.
The public participated in the conversation by watching a live Webcast and submitting questions and comments to the USIP’s Digital Idea Box via Twitter, text and chat.
