BBnet broadband, a regional provider of wireless broadband services, has been accepted as a Member of INEX, Ireland’s Internet Peering Point. By connecting to INEX, BBNet now has direct connections to some of the most sought after Internet content, which will enhance the end user experience for BBnet’s customers. BBNet, which delivers Internet services to both residential and commercial customers in the Clare, Limerick, Cork and Kerry regions, has been investing heavily in its network and connecting to INEX is one further step in enhancing BBnet's Broadband service.

"INEX is the physical point at which organisations meet to exchange IP (Internet) traffic between their networks, which is known in the Internet industry as Peering, said Eileen Gallagher, Marketing and Membership Development at INEX. "The Internet is increasingly used to access richer content such as live TV, video and music, where the user experience can be enhanced by having the fewest number of 'hops' between the content provider and the end user. By peering at INEX, BBNet now enjoys the benefits of direct connections to INEX's national and international Members which includes Internet Service Providers, search engines, broadcasters and hosting companies bringing them right to the heart of Ireland's Internet."

Commenting on this development, BBNet’s M.D. Barry O’Halloran, said “ BBNet continues to invest in improving it’s network so that users can enjoy the many benefits of having a reliable and fast broadband service. Joining INEX was a logical next step for BBnet which allows us to deliver internet content in a noticeably quicker manner to our customers – thereby improving their internet experience”.
