New Launch Cuts Weight 25 Percent, Increases Battery Power, Adds Weather-Resistance.

GlobalMedia Group, LLC today launched the new TransportAV for remote physician participation in ambulatory and emergency care. Updates to the new system include a slimmer, more dynamic design, a 25 percent cut in weight, increased battery power and weather-resistance. The new TransportAV system will be on display at the GlobalMedia Booth (#1533) in the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center at the 15th annual American Telemedicine Association (ATA) International Meeting and Exposition.

Mounted on a stretcher, TransportAV allows for medical consultation from the field directly to the clinic or hospital where a patient is being transported. With the TransportAV, the remote doctor has the ability to control all aspects of the consult. The system features a military-grade touch-screen PC, a 3G/4G Aircard, a controllable camera, echo canceling microphone, a ClearSteth™ Stethoscope, a TotalExam™ examination camera, and a Bluetooth wireless keyboard with headset for private conversations. All of this is designed into an adjustable, compact unit that can be mounted on a stretcher.

“The updates to the TransportAV system make it even more ergonomic for use in the field, especially for fast-paced scenarios when life hangs in the balance,” said Joel E. Barthelemy, GlobalMedia’s managing director. “As telemedicine becomes more prevalent in ambulatory care, the significance of the TransportAV system will continue to grow.”

New TransportAV features include:

  •     Slimmer design – Previous TransportAV iterations included multiple boxes attached to the system’s frame for audio/video switching, power and USB conversion. The new system leverages a single box technology for sleeker, easier functionality.
  •     Lighter weight – While the old system weighed 33 pounds, the new design cuts the system’s weight by nearly 25 percent.
  •     Weather-resistant exterior – Ambulatory care professionals work in rain or shine, and so should their equipment. New weather-resistant measures make sure TransportAV functions in inclement weather.
  •     Increased battery life – The new TransportAV system is powered by lithium-ion battery technology for longer-lasting battery life.

All devices included with the TransportAV attach to most any stretcher; its built-in pneumatic lift allows for the unit to be high enough above the situation and can easily enter the transport vehicle without getting in the way while in its compact position. The unit also detaches from the stretcher and can be mounted to a mobile cart at the scene or in the trauma center allowing the EMTs to answer their next call.
