Collaboration-Centric Resolve RBA Helps Communication Service Providers Expedite Workflow and Save NOC Costs, While Building Valuable Wiki-Based Knowledge Centers

“Our ‘library’ contains 234 Resolve action tasks that positively impact workflow to contribute to a time savings of thousands of hours each year,” says Chris Smith, Senior Manager, Network Operations Center, for Consolidated Communications.

TM Forum - generationE Technologies (http://www.generationetech.com), a global IT solution provider and recognized expert in operations support systems (OSS) and service management, today announced Resolve Run Book Automation (RBA) 3.0, a new platform release set to deliver the highest levels of automation and process efficiency to communications service providers (CSPs). Resolve RBA 3.0 is on display at TM Forum/Management World in the generationE meeting room located directly behind the main conference session hall, next to the Athena Auditorium.

Targeted for release in the third quarter 2010, the new release builds upon existing Resolve RBA capabilities for automating up to 90 percent of IT/network operations center (NOC) tasks, adding new features, including:

  • An enhanced user interface based upon Rich Internet Applications technology
  • Process efficiency and automation ROI dashboards
  • Mobile user interface

“These additions not only support our vision for facilitating control and management of the datacenter from anywhere at anytime, but also provide the robust, on-demand analytics that today’s quad-play CSPs require for advancing their most critical automation goals,” says Casey Kindiger, CEO of generationE.

Resolve RBA (http://www.resolve-systems.com) works by allowing organizations to easily define a series of collaborative “run books,” or procedures, for automating a majority of a company’s most essential OSS-related operational tasks. It solves the problem of orchestrating and automating much of the manual activity that occurs between and across network and IT operations process domains, addressing the points of pain that organizations face in fault management, problem resolution, provisioning orchestration and revenue assurance.

Resolve RBA also makes use of Wikis to centralize operational knowledge for easy sharing across the enterprise, ensuring that valuable information is no longer limited to the minds of the most senior operations staff and subject matter experts. Designed to be human-centric, the platform uniquely places automation tools in the hands of the people who are performing the manual work so that they can participate in ongoing process improvement.

Deployed throughout the globe, Resolve RBA is used by a wide range of leading organizations, including Consolidated Communications, based in Mattoon, Illinois.

“Resolve RBA benefits us the most in the areas of collaboration and workflow automation,” says Chris Smith, Senior Manager, Network Operations Center Tools and Automations for Consolidated Communications. “Our ‘library’ now contains 234 Resolve RBA action tasks that positively impact workflow to contribute to a time savings of thousands of hours each year.”

Built from the ground up to provide broad-based, carrier-class scalability and a vendor-neutral approach to automation, Resolve RBA’s capabilities span an organization’s networks, servers, desktops and applications. At the same time, the platform supports three tiers of clustering -- from tier-one user clustering, to orchestration clustering and execution-tier distribution clustering.

The Resolve RBA platform integrates with industry-leading IBM Tivoli products as a foundation, yet also offers IT operations platform integration with BMC, HP, CA and EMC (Smarts) solutions. It supports Java Message Service, Oracle and MySQL database environments; along with Cisco, Nortel and Juniper networking products; and Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari browsers. It is also compatible with all distributed platforms and all major mainframe and mid-range 3270 and 5250 platforms.

Resolve RBA v3.0 will be available in the third quarter, 2010. Customers can purchase and deploy Resolve RBA v2.0 now and upgrade to 3.0 at no extra charge. Pricing for Resolve RBA varies, depending upon customer environment.
