This Saturday, Pleasants Development, Inc. celebrated the opening of its newest master planned community, Brunswick Crossing. Over one thousand attended during the course of the day to commemorate the special occasion.

"We are overwhelmed by the support the community has shown us," said Christina L. May, Marketing and Community Relations for Pleasants Development. "This is not just a special day for Pleasants Development, it is a day that belongs to the entire Brunswick community. The work shown today including the stunning stone entry features, inviting parks and beautiful landscaping is truly indicative of the quality and style this community offers”.

Festivities began at 10:30AM with a ribbon cutting ceremony, symbolically opening the community. Attended by over 100 local dignitaries and guests, Brunswick City Mayor Carroll Jones offered the opening remarks, and was then followed by Don Pleasants, President Pleasants Development, Connie Koenig, Chair of the City of Brunswick Planning Commission and Jerry Connelly, Senior Vice President Pleasants Development, all sharing thoughts and stories leading up to this historic day. Juiannna Albowicz of Senator Mikulski's office was also on hand to mark the occasion with a Grand Opening proclamation from the Senator.

Celebrating more than just the opening of the community, many are still buzzing about the recent victory whereby the Post Office agreed to include Brunswick Crossing within the Brunswick 21716 zip code. Connie Koenig, Chair of the Planning commission, said it best, "Welcome to Brunswick, not just Brunswick Crossing. You are standing in the City of Brunswick".

Food and fun followed the ribbon cutting ceremony with family friendly activities everyone could enjoy. Kids and adults alike took a chance climbing to the top of the 24-foot rock climbing wall, testing their arms at the baseball speed pitch, and enjoying a fantastic BBQ pig roast picnic at the future site of the Brunswick Crossing Community Center. Little ones took their chance at Tee-Ball, visited with the Frederick Keys mascot Keyote, bounced in Frederick’s largest bounce house, and ran around with whimsical creations courtesy of the balloon artist on hand. Many of the activities took place in the recently dedicated Hope Farm Park.

Nine kite flyers from Wings Over Washington were showing off their kiting skills at the future Marketplace site at the front of the development. These unique kites could be seen from as far away as Route 15.

In addition to the festivities, potential homebuyers toured five decorated single-family home models by Advantage and Ryan Homes. The newest additions to the model home park, Ryan Homes' Michener II and Cortland models, débuted for Brunswick Crossing's Grand Opening Celebration.

Grand opening pricing and incentives will continue this week and are followed by the kickoff of the Brunswick Crossing Concert Series featuring a different musical guest each Saturday at 3:00pm through June 12. All are encouraged to pack a picnic and kick off the sounds of summer in Hope Farm Park. Food is available for pre-order and pick-up through Beans in the Belfry.
